The Cat Empire – Where the Angels Fall – new album out today

Did you hear? The Cat Empire have released a new album today! It contains all the hits of their recent EP Owl, and a whole heap of other lovely tunes besides. It feels like the highest highs and lowest lows on some level. Some of the songs are really upbeat and make me feel like I want to dance, and others make my heart ache with pain. Overall, it is a lovely album for a sunshiney day in Melbourne. And oh so fun and lovely. Here is my review of The Cat Empire – Where the Angels Fall.

Their new lineup is just as great as the last band (if not better!) and I find that the listening experience is consistently excellent. I love all their instruments – the trumpets, the pianos, the trombones (!!!) and of course Felix’s voice. The music brings out a playfulness in him. And he has such joyous melodies.

You can stream the album here:

It really did get me in the feels a few times though. Songs like Be With You Again and Rock n Roll and maybe Coming Back Again made my heart ache a bit, for everything that can be lost sometimes. It still has that joyous trumpet that always got me into The Cat Empire in the first place. It is pure sunshine, that instrument. And they do it SO well!

I hope some of these wonderful tunes make it into the Hottest 100 this year! It is so good to see The Cat Empire doing so well. Their Melbourne gig is sold out, but they are playing at two festivals near Melbourne in the summer – Summersault – which I am curious about and Music in the Park at Mornington. You can find their tour dates on their website.

Thanks for the brilliant album, lovely peoples! The Cat Empire – Where the Angels Fall is oh so brilliant. I hope you have loved making it as much as I have LOVED listening to it 🙂 Can’t wait to add it to my heavy rotation! (In fact, I am ready to go for round two right now!) When the Thunder Rumbles!! Yay! (Pure Joy!)
