23 Aug The Breath Haus x Now or Never
It was quite an unusual afternoon and evening! We went to The Breath Haus collaboration with the Now or Never festival at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton on Saturday. It was an interesting experience – an hour and fifteen minutes of breath work led by two women on a stage framed by the gorgeous architecture of the heritage building and crowned with a light sculpture that visually breathed with us.
Some of the breath work was rather activating to our nervous systems, and it was good to fill our lungs with beautiful oxygen in such a deliberate and mindful way.
After the breath work session a Yolngu elder from Arnhem Land played message sticks and sang accompanied by classical musicians.
All spread out on our mats, many of us covered with rugs or jackets, the ambient classical performance reminded me of Max Richter’s Sleep performance.
It was quite a refreshing experience and beautiful too. 🙂 Afterward we went to Leonardo’s Pizza and shared a pizza. It was our first time there and we decided we must come back for some kind of boozy lunch or afternoon.
