How the other half live

One of the best things about house sitting is the opportunity to try on a different lifestyle, like a new suit. In this case, I am getting a sense of what life is like in a middle-ring suburb in Melbourne with two toy poodles.

So far I get the sense that this part of Thornbury is not particularly walkable, at least in the sense of walking to bars and cafes or grocery shopping. It is possible, but it is a pain. I wonder if getting around on a bike for that sort of thing might be a better idea. And this area is walkable in terms of some lovely walks to go on with the doggies.

The nicest things so far though have been the wholesome lifestyle that pets can bring. Like with cats, a cosy Sunday morning, snuggling and snoozing can feel very rejuvenating, And food just tastes better here.

I am not going to lie though. Everything and everyone feels so far away. It would take 45 minutes on the tram to get to the city, which feels like a lot, I have to say. And so, I am not sure how much adventuring I will do when I am here (at least outside the local area). It feels like it might be a bit isolating in that way.

It is an interesting exercise, and will help me to decide if I might want to trade in my inner city life for the wholesome, more isolated nature of the suburbs at some point! So strange to consider such a thing! So, it is a valuable experience, I think!
