Spring in Melbourne 2023 – anticipation of fun

Spring in Melbourne feels like it arrived earlier this year. Friends who have lived in Melbourne for a lot longer than me say that September is usually a bitterly cold month. But today, on the 12th of September, 2o23, it feels like spring in Melbourne has arrived. And it feels fabulous! It reminds me of all the partying we have done over the warmer months, and so I am excited about this year’s festivities. Cocktails on the Yarra and in rooftop bars, trips to the beach, picnics in Edinburgh Gardens, music festivals, random outings, and the ambience of the streets of the CBD on blistering hot nights as well as the general energy of festivities during the spring/summer/autumn season, are so so fun.

It is as though the memory of every summer I have spent in Melbourne over the past eight years has formed a kind of layer of sensation in my memory. And when I start sneezing from the pollen, and the world feels like it is opening up, the rush of the partying in the summer months comes flooding back. And so I am left with a lovely feeling of anticipation for the next six months, here in Melbourne.

Perhaps I will travel a bit more this spring/summer/autumn, (if that happens), which might add another layer of excitement onto what is already a pretty beautiful memory of summers in Melbourne past.

What does the arrival of spring remind you of? I hope you are feeling good!
