Demolition – part 1

kitchen cabinetry with doors removed

Demolition – part 1

It is a little less ‘messy’ and destructive than I imagined.
When I turned up today, Dad had removed all the doors from the cabinets, and every part of the cabinetry that we demolished after that we cleaned up right after, so it is quite orderly, really.

It is nothing like the unadulterated damage that DP and I did when we were demolishing a warehouse space at the Mexican Hammock Company back in the late 90s. That is my only point of reference.

My Dad suggested a ceremonial chainsaw cutting of the bench top to get things underway. 😛 It was fun.

We turned off the gas at my unit main and watched the flame in my cooktop die away. Then my Dad used this cool crowbar to lift the cooktop out and remove all the cabinetry around the oven.

We carried everything downstairs to where the skip will be delivered tomorrow. And then we investigated the water situation.

The IKEA delivery hasn’t turned up yet. It was supposed to be there on Tuesday afternoon, and I waited there all day, but it didn’t come. So, fingers crossed that it comes tomorrow or Friday at the latest. That could really stuff things up if it is not here by the weekend!
