21 Jul New in the neighbourhood – Bronwyn Kuss and Rowan Thambar
Monday night comedy. It was a great excuse to get out and get cosy in The Local Taphouse on this wintry evening.
The idea behind the new in the neighbourhood concept is that the comedians test new jokes on a live audience to help them decide what to include in their stand up routines.
It was the second one of these shows that I have been to, and to be honest it was worth the effort. I had never seen Rowan Thambar do stand up before, but he told some very interesting and hilarious stories. Bronwyn Kuss is always great. This gig was no exception.
My favourite story was Bronwyn’s fantastical debarcle that would lead her to get ‘accidentally pregnant’ as a lesbian in a relationship with another woman. So creative.
Both artists were not shy to use graphic content. At one point in Rowan’s routine, a woman picked up dog shit with her hand covered in plastic and threw it directly at a man in the park. (lol) – The police investigation is still ongoing.
If you ever get the chance to see either of these comedians with their polished routines, I would recommend them.
It was a great night of laughs.
