27 Nov Semi-concious, dreamy bedtime mix
One of my favourite things to do is put on my Late Night Chill Playlist (which you can find on Spotify here), climb into my bed under my Indian summer quilt, and either read until my consciousness drifts, or just let it go that way naturally.
Halfway between sleep and wakefulness, when some of my best ideas happen, the soft, ambient sounds of these beautiful songs provide an environment for my mind to wander, float and percolate in a very pleasant way.
My thoughts seem to curl in and around the gentle sounds of the songs on this list, and the music inspires my mind to find beautiful ideas.
Sometimes (in a state of being half awake) I notice that the music is too loud, even though it is a classical/ambient soundtrack, and that can be quite disturbing. However, if the volume is set at the right level, mostly I find that this semi-conscious, sleepy mind-state mixes beautifully with the music, and when I finally get up to shut everything down for the evening I feel very uplifted and refreshed.
Writing about the playlist doesn’t hit the same when I am fully awake and conscious. However, it can still be nice on a summer evening after a period of blistering hot weather and then a cool change that leaves the air silky and smooth. Or after a late night out engaging in some kind of cultural or social activity.
Enjoy!!
