Musical native Australian pods and some sprigs of gum from the way home

A couple of weeks ago Ms Herbert and I took a stroll through the Botanical Gardens near her home.

My day had been intensely stressful with all sorts of web tech catastrophes in the morning, and it was heaven to meet up with my favourite client and begin to talk, rather than grind.

As it is spring in Australia right now, there are a lot more flowers out in the Botanical Gardens, and we set about exploring.

Ms Herbert is keenly observant. And as an artist she notices fine details of so many of the different native plants in the gardens. She guides my exploration with her keen attention.

We laughed so much that afternoon. Our conversation was easy and we found so many interesting plants to look at and talk about.

After about 45 minutes or so, we found a tree that had dropped pods on stems – like the ones in the picture featured above. Ms Herbert selected a pretty one for her art class the next day, and I picked up one too. . . I noticed that it made a rattling sound when I shook it. We were still laughing and I think we may have even done a little jig to the beat of the sound of the rattling pods.

Ms Herbert suggested I pick up a couple of pods to make a collection, and I found two more.

By this time I noticed that I was starting to yawn. It was a pleasant sensation and I told my companion about how I had learned that yawning is a sign of your nervous system becoming regulated again.

She laughed at me and said she didn’t mind. ‘Yawn as much as you like!’

We went back to her home and had a cool drink and more chats.

It was such a wonderful afternoon, that I very much want to remember. My world has been so intensely stressful for the past few weeks with all this web/tech/security palaver. It is such good medicine to spend time with my clients in the afternoons. Especially Ms Herbert. I told her she is my favourite client and it is true. . . Now that we are laughing together, it seems that we can’t stop!!
