26 Sep Jolly Good – steak and frites night
Dad and I ate at Jolly Good last night. It certaingly was ‘jolly good!!’
We had the steak special that they have on Thursday nights.
$25 for steak frites, , , wine not included, but a nice house red at $15 a glass.
On the menu
We could choose rare or medium rare for our steak and they had three different sauces. Dad had garlic butter and I had chimichurri.
The plate was served with a delectable fan of steak cut into smaller medallions and a line of the sauce over the top.
It was a TASTE sensation.
For the price, obviously there was a lot of chips, but I didn’t feel the need to eat any more than maybe a quarter of them.
The chimichurri sauce had a delightful lemon flavour, that was so wonderful with the medium rare steak.
Atmos
We sat outside because it was very full inside, and also it was a little loud. The chairs and tables looked like they had been fabricated out of recycled plastic.
The glass of red went well with the garlic butter steak, Dad said, but was a little bitter for my chimichurri. It was a Nevolo from Italy, I seem to recall.
My Dad had found this restaurant because he went there the night before for the burger night on a Wednesday and the owner had told him about the steak night the following day.
And we got some steps! It was an awesome evening. So nice to walk home with my Dad through the streets of Collingwood, and see all the revellers, for the Melbourne Grand Final public holiday eve.
