bench top and tiles – assembly day 8

It was nice to get the bench top in yesterday. The person who did it was particularly talented and we are getting him to come back next week to do the bulk head and other infill panels.

Now is the very difficult process of finalising the tile choices. It is difficult, and I am not sure that big tiles of the size 600 x 600 are going to work in this little kitchen. The other question is whether to go neutral a darker grey than the benchtop) or a green or blue kind of hue.

To top it all off some of the tiles that are in our shortlist are kind of matt finish, not gloss so they will be harder to clean than some of the more colourful and smaller tiles (although these will have more grout), and they are going to take 10 days to deliver, which means that my Dad will be long gone – and I will need to pay someone to tile the splash back.

I think it is true that the splash back will make or break the design, and it is so hard to imagine it without all the white of the cabinet doors. But maybe it would be worth slowing down a little, paying for a tiler and getting a better sense of what I am dealing with in the space.
