We went to Bastille Day celebrations at the Queen Victoria Markets on the weekend. It was nice to sit in the sun with a view of the market stalls eating French delicacies and sipping on French wine.
The menu was wonderfully authentic. On offer were baguettes, crepes, cassoulet, croque monsieurs, cheese raclette, saucisson, and croissants among other things. I think next year I am going to try the cheese raclette with potatoes. That looked like the tastiest and least ‘meaty’ of the options available.
We drank French wine in the winter sunshine and listened to the music on the main stage throughout the afternoon.
It was a great way to celebrate this legacy of the French Revolution.
