09 Dec Spotify Wrapped 2024
I saw something funny the other day
I can relate. I do get frustrated when Spotify ‘changes things up’, by moving one song, and many of those playlists that are ‘made for you’ get so boring after a while, because Spotify doesn’t seem to know how to change it up.
I also saw someone talking about their Spotify Wrapped and how it was lost because it was so cool. It was in the top 0.5 % of cool playlists, and it just got lost because her phone was too new or something.
Spotify Wrapped is and always has been very underwhelming. I want to reflect on my year and I am certainly not going to use my top songs 2024 to do this. It would be nicer to do so listening to Triple J’s Hottest 100 I feel.
It is a joke.
As for Instagram, I am almost done with it. Every second post feels like it is another screaming ad about making money using AI. It is just horrid.
I am working with someone at the moment who is lost in a web of social media and email logins and authorisations combined with outdated equipment and accidental data loss. From that kind of perspective, technology seems like such an unwieldy beast, that can get more tangled than a knot of wires or headphones. And it is so easy to get ‘locked out’ of the whole thing.
I am wondering if some sections of society could simply step outside of the mess and operate without it. I know it feels like one isn’t connected, but what kind of connection are we talking about? It is interesting to observe how people who don’t have access to technology live without it.
