20 Oct dinner and dancing – Dr Morse and The Lame Duck
Our mission to find good music and dancing in Melbourne has begun.
We met at Dr Morse because someone on their staff had told me that people dance at around 9 or 10 pm. The music is always excellent there. And last night was no different.
We were originally sitting outside in the beer garden. The vibes were good, but maybe a little hectic for dinner. They kindly gave us a table inside.
Dinner for four was quite reasonable. The wine (and bourbon) was flowing, and we were enjoying the music. However, the beer garden did not transform into a dance floor as we had hoped, so we headed to Fitzroy to the Lame Duck, for dancing.
My friend said that the vibe of the Lame Duck is like being at your best friend’s 18th birthday party. It was a good way to describe it. Hit after glorious 80-era hit had us with our hands in the air and feeling so, so, good.
The crowd was fun. Many people were dressed up in some very lairy 80s garb. And so many of those youngsters knew the words as well as we did!
It was not as nice as finding fine electronica to dance to, but we agreed it was a fun thing to do every six months or so.
And so, we can tick these places off our list.
