25 Jul AAArmstrong – Italo Disco Dance Machine playlist
It has been fantastic to give Daddy’s Italo Disco Dance Machine a deeper listen. I have struggled with this playlist in the past, however, my methods of listening this week may have allowed me to reach for it in those moments when I want ‘something a little extra’ or something a little more energetic perhaps, for those afternoons or after-work feels.
One of the things that made this edition of his playlist more accessible to me is the fact that he has sprinkled his own songs through the list. . . They become an anchor that I can come back to. If you haven’t checked out Daddy Squad’s latest tracks I would do yourself a favour and check them out!!
The familiarity issue may be half the problem I had with this playlist. For me to learn to love this kind of music, perhaps I need to simply allow the songs to become familiar to me.
This week, I listened to the whole list in order, (over two sessions), and saved the songs I like, then went back and listened again to the songs that Andrew had highlighted. Now, I feel like I can listen to it on shuffle. I did this yesterday afternoon as my work was closing, and it was a wonderful vibe. I loved it!
Homework
Daddy Squad has so many songs that I don’t know how to infuse with my LOVE any more! I have saved them, I have added them to playlists. I want to take KOTD in particular to the roof and throw it to the stars. . . More and more of Daddy Squad’s songs are becoming FAVOURITES. They are so, so good!
Andrew also posted a story on Instagram promoting the new playlist and another one about the last song on this Italo Disco Dance Machine playlist.
Interesting no?? The megamix is funny, , , and I thought I did recognise some songs from it when I first listened to it. . . Now I am not so sure. . . the artist is Brian Ice, and I have never heard of him. The ‘clap your hands’ sample was familiar, perhaps because it has been used so many times! The other good thing is that when it descends into what I have explained to myself as the ‘daytime television vibe of some disco music’, it pulls out of it again quickly, and so, , ‘We should be dancing, yeah!’ Is this his song?? I think it is a Bee Gees song, from 1976 perhaps, , , hehe, , , how funny!
