24 Nov Queenscliff Music Festival day one
I stand corrected! The music has been excellent so far. We have seen Illy play, which was a lovely collection of visceral musical memories distant and near. He really knows how to light up a crowd. And it was fun to dance.
The only thing I felt was missing from his set was an actual back up vocalist and perhaps a DJ. I am not sure if he produces his own music, but it was a bit odd to have canned vocalists without real vocalists.
The rain is pouring down, but it is cosy in our stadium style seats to the left of the stage. It was a lucky break. And it feels very civilised.
Then, Alice Ivy, in the Hippo tent, who was a lot of fun. Very upbeat and interesting.
And now Something For Kate, who got into my good books with a cover of Rock the Casbar by the clash. They are not really a band who have caught my attention before, but they sound good live. Perhaps festivals are about discovery too.
And that is a wrap for day one. I am so glad I came. It is fun
