03 Jul How to blow off steam – the winter edition
One way to blow off some steam at the end of a working day, or indeed the end of a working week is to get up and dance! It is also a great way to get warm. Especially if the wholesale cost of energy is spiking and you are wanting to keep the heater turned off. I was pondering how to blow off steam during my working day. And as soon as 5 pm hit, I put on an upbeat playlist with the intention of changing the personality of my day and discharging some energy.
Exercise does seem like the perfect way to discharge nervous, anxious or uptight energy that can gather during the week. But freestyle dancing is the perfect stress reliever because it relies on excellent music, creative movement and aerobic exercise. After 20 or so minutes of dancing to some of the songs on my dance and exercise playlist, I feel so much more relaxed, open and ready to take on the evening!
Suggested music
These songs may not be to your taste, but it is so nice to have a collection of songs that reliably make me want to move my body. Maybe you could collect some songs of your own so that you can collect them and then put on your dance playlist, and have a boogie. Anywhere! In the park, in your lounge room, on the beach!
What songs make you want to move your body?
It makes me realise why some people say they need to run (or walk) up a big hill when they are feeling angry, anxious or antsy. Exercise really does help! And it also makes sense that it is probably a good thing to teach children (or animals) to do with their bodies when their feelings get big and overwhelming, in that energetic and big way!
What are some ways you have realised to work out how to blow off steam?
