I recently spoke to Paula from Lentil as Anything in Abbotsford, Victoria about the story of Lentil as Anything and why they do what they do.

One thing that we didn’t have time to cover in the interview, was the fact that people pay for their food at Lentil as Anything on a ‘pay as you feel’ system. This means that people contribute what they feel to help cover the costs of each meal and to pay it forward.

As Paula said to me, the volunteers are the lifeblood of Lentil as Anything. They work in this restaurant, cooking, serving and cleaning to bring food to those less fortunate and also those who are fortunate in a way that makes everyone welcome. They also get the opportunity to learn skills, gain experience in hospitality and improve their English skills.
