08 May Calder – Radical Inventor – NGV
Alexander Calder (1898 – 1976) is known as the artist who brought motion to sculpture. He is responsible for inventing the mobile. Calder produced artwork in numerous different mediums, from drawing, painting, sculpture and set design for music and dance productions. He also created monumental urban sculptures that were commissioned worldwide.
This exhibition Calder – Radical Inventor is showing at the NGV Melbourne until August 4, 2019. The body of work shown displays the progression of Calder’s artwork from a circus performer to movement-based sculpture and urban sculptures.
The photos displayed above document a journey to the NGV and through the exhibition, as part of a media portfolio for my studies at Swinburne University. It was shot using a Canon 80D DSLR camera. Many thanks to my dear friend Bella for modelling for this photo shoot!
