As always, listening to an archived Monarchy song satisfies a craving I never knew I had. There are three people contributing to this song – You Don’t Want to Dance With Me by Monarchy, and the tension is palpable.

In the acoustic version, the intensely beautiful piano sits underneath Ra and Britt’s voices, and it seems to me that it holds the different elements together, as a foundation of sorts. The piano notes cascade like a waterfall. The tenderness and patience of these keys convey protection and a melancholy.

I do feel that the song communicates a positive message, however. Britt’s voice singing the chorus gives me hope that these three will find resolution to their conundrum!
