The Night Brother – Rosie Garland

By | April 9th, 2018|daily life, literature|

It is a week or so since I finished the Night Brother by Rosie Garland. It was the most sumptuous and interesting book. Edie doesn't understand why she is so tired each morning, or why her feet are so dirty when she wakes up. Her mother becomes increasingly hostile towards her, and Edie doesn't know [...]

Late summer evenings in the neighbourhood

By | March 23rd, 2018|architecture, bars and restaurants, daily life, weather|

The streets were buzzing tonight on my walk home. Huge queues outside of both gelato shops and even Alimentari was open tonight. So lovely. All the way down the street, people were out at bars enjoying the last vestiges of summer.

If you are in the mood for something upbeat, then you might like this song. . . I heard it yesterday on my way home from grocery shopping. I drive my car for 3 km once a week to go shopping, haha. It is always a bit of an adventure. This song filled my ears [...]

Sundays for soap and suds

By | January 14th, 2018|daily life, friends, light art, music|

I love Sundays. It is so nice to wash clothes, wash dishes and clean the house. All the more therapeutic when I am feeling incredibly crappy from a reduction in medication. By | January 5th, 2018|daily life, holidays, parks and gardens, weather|

I just want to cry and cry. Premenstrual in my 40s on holidays. No fun. Sydney is a beautiful place. The breeze, the boats, the beach. It seems lusher and greener than Melbourne . Sweet frangipani scent. Nice to visit :-)

It is such a beautiful evening for sharing friendship. :-) I am so happy tonight. It is Mistress Butterfly's birthday. We went to an interesting collection of writers who have recently had a residency at the Wheeler Centre. They were beautiful stories. Something that stood out for me was one writer saying 'I write to [...]

nerves before an adventure in the world with friends

By | November 16th, 2017|daily life, friends|

I am a bit nervous about going out tonight. I am going to see some theatre with Maximilien and some other people. We are going to have drinks and dinner beforehand. Work has become so enjoyable, and so incredibly productive, since I have signed up to a few new things, and getting out into the [...]

adventures on a rainy day – cruising in my brooom

By | November 16th, 2017|daily life, technology|

There is something fun about going for a cruise through my city, on an unusual kind of adventure. I have to get my ignition switch replaced, as there is a recall for this part on my car. They took their time finding the fault! Apparently it is at risk of starting a fire. Inside the [...]
